Counselling & Psychotherapy Services

I believe that it is inevitable that we will all go through difficult times; it is part of what it means to be human.

What do we do when we’ve exhausted our usual coping methods? One way is to come and talk to someone like me. What I do is listen to you carefully and try to see life from your perspective and how you make sense of what’s going on for you.

By talking through what’s going on around you, you will be able to make more sense of your circumstances and be able to see your way through the fog. So how will that make you feel better? Well, I can offer you a professional relationship where, through talking and really being listened to, you can get better in touch with yourself and begin to feel more comfortable with your personal circumstances. I can support you through your difficult times and help and guide you to see the way forward for yourself.

I am able to listen to you in a completely non-judgmental, safe, confidential environment for you to address and resolve your issues. I am a qualified psychiatric nurse, working in the community and I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. I am guided by the code of ethics and professional standards and ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I have also accrued extensive training with the Samaritans and am currently an active Samaritans listener.

The type of listening service that I offer is not based on diagnosing and treating, but respecting you and your capacity for growth and change. I offer a humanistic, person-centred approach, meaning that everything is about you, a very important and special person. We will explore life as you see it, what that means for you and what you can change in your life to make it better for you.

I can offer a face to face listening service, a telephone listening service, an email correspondent service or a text messaging service. I can be there at a time when it is most convenient to you, to talk through and explore what is affecting you and your life choices. I am also able to offer more creative and flexible forms of therapy. Talking need not take place in the confines of the 'therapy room.' I am now able to offer 'walk and talk' sessions if you feel that you would like a less formal environment. Please give me a call to discuss your particular needs.

I hope that gives you a broad idea of my service.

If you have any questions at all, please message me and I will be happy to answer them.
